Battalion Chief Kerry Henderson, a 22-year veteran of the Fire Service, is an award- winning author and the first-place winner of the Darley Fire Service Leadership Essay contest. Kerry is working to shake up the traditional fire service leadership model and hopes to change hearts and minds about what leadership classes and development look like in the future.
Kerry is a graduate of Mary Baldwin College and Jacksonville State University. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and a Masters of Public Administration Degree in Emergency Management. Although she is proud of her academic accomplishments, she credits her knowledge and leadership experience from exceptional human beings that she has been blessed to encounter along the way.
Kerry's biggest accomplishment to date is her role as a mom and wife. She is a self- proclaimed crazy PTA/sports/classroom mom and her son's biggest fan.
Kyle Matousek is a results oriented multi-faceted professional who is passionate about developing leaders. He accomplishes this by challenging the norm with innovative concepts such as empathy and compassion. Kyle shares his insights through his story of struggles and accomplishments that questions industry norms. He challenges those concepts and brings forth a progressive look at what leaders need to be today and most importantly how to get there.
Kyle is a Coast Guard Veteran and has been in the fire service for 13 years currently as a Lieutenant. Kyle received his Masters Degree in Public Safety from Southern Illinois University. He placed 2nd in the Darley essay competition explaining what Company Officers need to do to exhibit exceptional leadership.
Personally, Kyle is a family man raising two daughters with his wife Nikki. In their free time they all enjoy camping, hiking and mountain biking.
